Designed to promote qualitative improvement in education by discovering and
fostering talents in the fundamental science sector, the 2008 Korea Science
Olympiad was held on October 11 in Seoul and 29 other places.
The 29th Olympiad featured two divisions: mathematics and science for 3rd graders
in elementary school up to 9th graders in middle school.
Some 26,000 students from across the country participated.
The 12 grand prize winners and 36 gold prize winners will have the opportunity to
receive overseas training. The awarding ceremony will be held on December 19.
